India to create over 200,000 Data Scientists Job Opportunities by 2018
Trivandrum: Kerala based Data Analytics Company Techvantage Systems Pvt. Ltd has forecasted that by 2018 India will create over 200,000 job opportunities for Data Scienties. Deviprasad Thrivikraman, CTO of Techvantage talked about this at a Data Scientist Workshop the company had organized in Trivandrum . The workshop was attended by aspriring students and teachers from various engineering institutions from across the state.
Data science is an interdisciplinary field about processes and systems to extract knowledge or insights from data in various forms either structure or unstructured. Data scientists use their data and analytical ability to find and interpret rich data sources; manage large amounts of data despite hardware, software, and bandwidth constraints; merge data sources; ensure consistency of datasets; create visualizations to aid in understanding data; build mathematical models using the data; and present and communicate the data insights/findings.
Deviprasad Thrivikraman said, “There is news that there will be fewer IT jobs and fewer placements at campuses this year which is true for traditional IT jobs, but demand for specialized jobs like Data Scientists will continue to rise in 2017. I urge aspiring students and experienced professionals from IT and related fields to explore this as a career option.”
He added that a skilled Data Scientist could earn more than an IT professional and the opportunity for such skilled professionals will be on a rise by 2018.
Ravikumar Balan, Head of Service Delivery added that finding skilled Data Scientists was not easy as a good Data Scientist requires a combination of skills which is proving to be rare which can be acquired with the right guidance.
