Interview with Mr M Vasudevan : Sr Buisness Development Officer, Technopark

“I was amongst the first employee who had joined Technopark I have seen this park grow from a nascent stage to adulthood……..”
Q: How do you see IT in Kerala shaping up by 2020?
A: We are very hopeful that Technopark Trivandrum will be among top 6 position IT park in the coming years, as Kerala belongs to Tier 3 category our cost of operation is lower, the quality of life much better compared to other metro cities , we have a high density of science and technology professionals, a teledensity that is far ahead of the national average, an environment that stimulates creativity, and living standards that can easily seduce the best of talent, IT, is one of the fastest growing sectors in Kerala which has grown by 80 percent in the last five years a dream run that surpasses Karnataka.  The ready availability of skilled manpower, seamless connectivity to towns and cities and availability of bandwidth and auxiliary resources is prompting more firms to invest here.
Q: Over the past 5 years there has been a tremendous increase in international MNC’s choosing Kerala Technopark as their investment hub, your comments?
A: Technopark is  India’s the greenest IT Park with its entire campus covered by lush green vegetation, characteristic of Kerala it has many USP’s for companies to invest here, firstly it is located on a strategic National Highway (NH) Bypass between the city and the Arabian Sea, which provides good road connectivity , secondly it has  full-fledged flight connectivity with IT hubs like Bangalore and Hyderabad available from Trivandrum International Airport, Thirdly Technopark is serviced by a variety of bandwidth providers through fibre optic lines in the campus , any new company which plans to set up its offices here the Technopark team looks after all the governmental formalities and procedures  including licenses which helps the companies devoting their time only in doing business in other words plug and play facility is provided. The government of Kerala is also helping us in a big way in generating investments for our campus.
Q:  As you were the first employee who had joined Technopark, how has been your experience been so Far, Can you provide us with some insights on it. (Past and present experiences)
A: Well having said that I was amongst the first employee who had joined Technopark I have seen this park grow from a nascent stage to adulthood. Talking about the past, Technopark was a mere barren land which was a cattle grazing field and its surroundings did not have even a single house located, the first company to set their office here was Brahma software which is a UK based MNC, and talking about it today it makes be immensely proud of our hard work and immense contribution which has made it to be home to nearly 285 companies and one of the largest employment power house by itself. I want to see this Park progress and would put in my best to make it happen.
Q: Which are the big names who plan to invest in Technopark?
A: Well there are many MNC’s who are planning to invest in Technopark in the coming years to name a few Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Accenture, IBM, Hewett Packard etc.

Q: What are future initiatives which will be taken by Kerala IT for Technopark?
A: There are many things which is currently under pipeline, we plan to build in more infrastructure consisting of latest trends prevailing in the market, there are many techies who have suggested that we should build in Multiplexes shopping Mall across Technopark which we also think is something we have to take up soon, there should be good roads and mono rails connectivity built which will ease in accessibility to Technopark with other IT parks across Malabar shoreline. The construction of a high speed corridor is also something which we are looking at in future to come up.
