MIT Media Lab and TechTop collaborate for a Design and Innovation Workshop from July 30-August 1, 2013 in Trivandrum

Trivandrum: TechTop 2013, the annually held inter-collegiate Innovation contest for Engineering Colleges is just around the corner. As a prelude to the main event, TechTop organisers have joined hands with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Media Labs India to conduct a MIT Media Lab Design and Innovation Workshop in Trivandrum from July 30-August 1, 2013. The three-day workshop to be held in Mar Baselious College of Engineering and Technology, Nalanchira will be inaugurated by Shri P H Kurian, Principal Secretary for IT, Govt of Kerala on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 10 am.

 

The Design Innovation workshop series aims to engage and inspire students, academics, and members of industry participants across all disciplines in inventing the future. This 3 day workshop will engage participants in ideation, design, and implementation of prototypes with MIT Media Lab and local mentors. The workshop will culminate in a plenary conference and exhibition that will be open to visitors from academia, industry leaders, and the press.

 

The three tracks planned are: Design for Sustainability; Hacking Culture; and Mobile Ubiquitous Computing.

 

The three-day workshop will have participation from TechTop 2013 participants, arts and science students; engineers; scientists; musicians; artists; cartoonists; designers and entrepreneurs. The workshop will have a selection of three tracks with 30 attendees in each. MIT Media labs will initiate the participants to brainstorm and finalise of a project each group would undertake and 3-4 students shall form a group and work on around 5 projects in each track. The prototypes developed by the participants shall be exhibited on the final day of the workshop on August 1, 2013.
